Once added, it opens like a native app and it's available to every employee on every plan. Employees can also turn on push notifications for vesting updates, new offers, documents to sign, company communications, and bonus updates, choosing which categories to receive per device.
Cake prompts employees to install the app automatically the first time they visit app.cakeequity.com from a mobile browser. Anyone who dismisses that prompt can install manually later from Account settings - there's no separate download link or app store search involved. No admin setup is required on the company side; the option is available to every employee the moment their account exists.
Once installed, notifications are set per device, not per account. An employee who vests a batch of options gets a push notification the moment it happens, and can tap straight into My Cake to see the update - without checking email first. Each device lets employees switch any single notification category off, or turn off push entirely, so the choice sits with the individual, not the company.
