Key Insights
  • November 30 is the last day to opt in to Pulley's Carta offer before shutting down on December 8.
  • Exporting files from Pulley and uploading them to your Cake dashboard is the only step you do yourself. Cake's managed migration handles the rest.
  • See your cap table live in Cake before you pay.

Pulley goes dark on December 8, 2026. After that date, the app is gone, support ends, and so does your ability to export anything yourself. Let's review the important dates:

  • ‍November 30, 2026: Last day to opt in to Pulley's arranged Carta transition offer.‍
  • December 8, 2026: Pulley will cease operations and services.‍
  • January 31, 2027: Limited data access is expected to end.

With these dates coming up fast, now is the time to make the move if you haven't yet. Consider November 30 as your hard deadline.

We know that many Pulley users are hesitant to take the only path forward that Pulley arranged for them. We understand the pain, especially for those who chose Pulley because they wanted to avoid Carta to begin with.

We're here to assure you that moving to a platform other than Carta is far less complicated than it seems. At Cake, we've migrated hundreds of Pulley users at this point and have streamlined our migration process. This guide walks you through every step, from the export to go-live.

Get ready to migrate

You don't need to get into a sales call to get started with Cake. You can simply sign up, start exploring, and upload your cap table data.

We treat all Pulley migrations as managed migrations. This means you'll have someone from our team helping you move everything over accurately.

Pro tip: Sign up and upload your exported files to Cake before you book time with our team. This way, we can set up your cap table first and you can demo Cake with your own data by the time you get in a call with us.

1. Drop in your Pulley files

Signing up for Cake gives you access to the dashboard where you can securely upload your files.

There are three files you need to export from Pulley to get started:

  • Cap Table data
  • Stakeholders report
  • Vesting details report

For more details, see our guide on how to export your cap table from Pulley.

Uploading your exported files to Cake will trigger the managed migration process, and our team will take it from here.

2. We reconcile your data

We rebuild your cap table in Cake and reconcile it against your source data, making sure that everything is transferred over accurately. We also flag anything that doesn't add up and reach out to you when needed.

Andy Wang shares his experience migrating from Pulley to Cake:

"Super fast migration by a person responding every few hours. Even spotted a mistake to the pool calculation from Pulley numbers."
— Andy Wang, Founder & CEO, Finta

3. See your cap table live in Cake

You will get notified when your cap table is ready to view in Cake.

We'll give you time to test it live before you have to pay. Click through stakeholder records. Check vesting schedules against your own spreadsheets. Try the features you'll use day to day.

You can also book a Power Up call, a one-on-one call with our Customer Success team, where you can ask  questions.

The managed migration itself costs nothing. You only pay when you're ready to go live.

Frequently Asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to move to Carta?

No. Carta is the migration path Pulley arranged but you can move to a platform of your choice. Migrate to Cake instead! You'll find that the process is not as complicated as it seems.

Do I need to give Cake access to my Pulley account?

No. It's easy and straightforward to upload your exported files to your Cake dashboard yourself. Our team will rebuild your cap table from there.

When do I pay?

You only pay when you're ready to go live. The managed migration is free, and you can test your cap table in Cake before you pay.

What happens to my signed documents and 409A reports?

They aren't part of the cap table export, so download them from Pulley separately before December 8. You can upload them to Cake at any stage. For more info, read our guide on what happens to your 409A after the Pulley shutdown.
