Migration from Carta to Cake takes 3 to 5 business days. Cake manages the process end-to-end: you export your data, Cake's team reconciles every row, and you verify the result before going live. Migration is free. There are no additional fees for the migration service on top of your Cake subscription.
The 3-to-5-day timeline covers the full process from export to activation. It is not a rough estimate, it reflects the time required to complete a proper row-by-row reconciliation and give you a review step before your account goes live.
Day 1: You export your cap table data from your current platform and send it to Cake's team. Carta and Pulley both have export functions for this. The export itself takes minutes.
Days 2 to 4: Cake's team reconciles every row against your source data. This includes share issuances, option grants, vesting schedules, SAFEs, and 409A history. If something does not match, the team flags it and resolves it. You may be asked to clarify a specific record during this stage.
Day 4 to 5: You receive the completed cap table for review. You confirm that every record is accurate before activation. Nothing goes live without your sign-off. Once you confirm, your account is activated.
The timeline assumes a standard cap table. Highly complex structures with multiple share classes, many convertible instruments, or historical discrepancies may take slightly longer. Cake's team will communicate any extension during the process.

Cake's migration takes 3 to 5 business days and is free. The timeline is structured around quality, not speed: every row is verified and you review the result before going live. If your Carta renewal is coming up, the migration timeline fits comfortably within a typical renewal window. Start the process as soon as you export your data.
